KPOM Holds Stakeholder Meeting to Brief MSPO Compliance and Mill Background
Keningau Palm Oil Mill (KPOM), located 40km along the Jalan Ansip-Dalit road, held a comprehensive sustainability presentation on June 2024. Operating since July 2003, KPOM processes 45 metric tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hour. With 30% of FFB sourced from its estates and 70% from external plantations, the mill is an integral part of the Dalit district.
KPOM reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable palm oil production under the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) standards, including an upgrade to the MSPO MYNI-2022 certification. Policies on health, safety, environmental sustainability, human rights, and equal opportunity were highlighted. The presentation also emphasized KPOM’s zero-tolerance approach to child labor, workplace harassment, and unauthorized use of mobile phones and cameras within mill premises.
Recent activities at KPOM include MSPO training, fire drills, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and community engagement through cultural and recreational events. The mill also shared updates on its environmental management systems, noise mapping, and effluent pond operations.
These efforts demonstrate KPOM’s commitment to balancing operational efficiency with environmental stewardship and social responsibility, ensuring sustainable growth and compliance with industry standards.
